  • TiVo makes a profit

Hmmm .. barely .. I guess non-negative is always a good thing. How many profitable quarters has TiVo had? They've been around what? 10 years now and had how many positive quarters? Come on .. It's hanging on just enough to get folks stoked but .. ain't happening for me. They died as far as I'm concerned over 2 years ago.

Hooray! For the second quarter in a row, TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO) comes through with an unexpected profit.

Boo! The company is also hosing down its current quarter's outlook, and in a troubling development, it actually lost more company-owned subscribers than it gained during the period.
Also, looks like a $7 to $9 million loss next quarter .. still losing money :nono2:

      CLEAR! We have a pulse...

Quick, someone hook up this DirecTV intravenous drip laced with morphine. At least then the shareholders won't feel as much pain during the surgery.

It will be interesting to see if this ends up helping Tivo or not. I have a feeling that DIRECTV will charge extra to have a Tivo, and only the diehard Tivo fans will use it. Because of that this could be of little help to Tivo.
